Targeted Phishing Scam Hurts

Some dishonourable person is sending me a MoneyBookers phishing scam. The email starts out with “Money Received” and it is quite a sizable sum. I use MoneyBookers to receive the ever possible donations for my WinTumbler tumblr client (none yet, probably because it is MoneyBookers).

Anyway, the scam email’s links all point to the same address: http://contentbank.com.au/app/login/, which is a remarkable facsimile of the actual MoneyBookers site. The fake page even makes use of moneybookers own captcha system! The scam also says that to accept the payment I must click the link… even though the actual procedure is far easier. If someone sends me money it appears in my account automatically.

This seriously upsets me.

This picture was supposedly taken in the Kruger National Park. I’ll be heading there early June for a week. We’re staying outside Kruger and will venture in for day rides. I’m hoping to tumblelog photos whenever I get a chance. Maybe I’ll be lucky enough to even get a close up shot of a bull elephant’s ….

Odessa’s: The joys of living with a man.
I would take offense except that sometimes it’s true.

iPhone in South Africa soon

I just don’t know if an iPhone is going to be worthwhile in South Africa. Vodacom is going to be getting it through Vodafone as mentioned in this article, but what about the iTunes store? South Africa doesn’t have access to the iTunes store and that means no ringtones, no music, no tv shows, no movies, and no applications without hacking. Not to mention the lack of unlimited data or sms bundles and really expensive and slow broadband connections. As much as I would love to have an iPhone I cannot get past the idea that my experience with the device will be limited due to the lack of infrastructure. On the plus side it will almost definitely be unlocked.
