Crystal Quest Quest
I just went through a lot of trouble to play the early Apple game Crystal Quest. I originally played it on a Fat Mac a long, long time ago. I decided to try and find an emulator and a copy of the game to play again. It was fun until I realised that the mouse doesn’t track very well - about one second after starting the game on the Apple II/GS emulator. I remember being incredibly impressed...

Instapaper →
Instapaper is good and simple – I will be using it. It is a URL bookmarker and viewing directory made to make it simple for you to read web pages later, when you have the time. It also doesn’t try to go further than personal use – a benefit in my opinion. Thanks Marco

Please, pretty please, when you have time. My guess is it would be a parameter titled: “link”.

Mobile photo posting - Reasons for failure
I was still trying to figure out why some of the photo uploads that I did from my mobile phone didn’t work. Perhaps the phone’s email client mutilated the images on their way out? I did try it from two different SMTP servers (gmail + my cell provider’s) with identical results. I checked the test I had sent to my email account and the photo’s size is set to 0Kb and trying to...

Featherbed here we come
Cleaned the monkey shit off my shoes and now I’m ready for our trip to Featherbed national park. We get there by ferry and arrive to a buffet lunch after which we go on a 2km walk.

Arrived in knysna
Checked into Inyati guest lodge, which is nowhere near as nice as the place in Plett. Had lunch at the famous 34 degrees South just before the town’s electricity was cut. Going on the ultimate ferry ride tomorrow!

Mobile Photo Posting for Trip
One success after one failure. Only the caption came through the first time. I think it may have something to do with the number of recipients of the email or that the image was resized on the phone or something else quite arbitary. I hope it works, got a week in the Garden Route and I want to post some pics.

Internet cafe bust yields four fraud scam arrests →
“[T]hree Nigerians were using the cafe as a base for a phishing scam” This is a bust that happened in my home town in South Africa recently. I wonder what laws we have to punish these people. Pity they will probably get off as they might have destroyed the evidence.

Public Protector set to probe Eskom's... →
For those who don’t know, Eskom, South Africa’s energy provider, is having problems. Maybe it has a broken nuclear reactor or they just didn’t plan for the future, but either way we have almost daily load-shedding in order to reduce the country’s energy requirements. Load-shedding is the practice of cutting the power for an hour or two to various areas during peak...

My 2008 Resolution
I’ve decided to learn a new programming language. Normally I wouldn’t bother as I find the practice disappointing, but I’ve never touched a Functional Language before and Erlang looks like an interesting choice.
