Dear Nintendo,
[T]he perpetual shortage is just an annoyance to people who want to buy your products.
… But you recently released a game I’d like to buy: Wii Fit. Even though it’s $90, I still want to buy it.
… But I can’t buy it. Anywhere.
South Africa has plenty of stock both of the Wii console and the Wii Fit - probably because of the price of both. The console is about R3200 while the Wii Fit is R999. Console gaming is just not a reasonable price around here.
A typical Wii game is around R500 (similar for XBox and PS3) while the average PC game is around R300. Just for some exchange rates: 100 South African rands = 12.7236 U.S. dollars —> about $80 for the Wii Fit. This may seem cheap, but the value of the Rand is such that it tends to be more than a healthy part of most people’s monthly salaries.
It’s not that we have a lot of stock, it is just that people can either not afford it or they don’t want to buy it after seeing the Wii adverts on tv.
